Termas-da-Azenha lies in the center of Portugal, situated in a beautiful valley, approximately 17 km of the coast of the Atlantic Ocean. Termas-da-Azenha is a former spa-resort, and the water is still of a very good quality (tested every year).
The medicinal water from our springs is therefore an extra attraction. The bathhouse has now 4 recuperated baths. The history of this resort is one of hunderds of years.

Our spa is only used as game room, museum and community room in our little holiday village, but 500 metres further down the road you can go to a modern one and enjoy a sauna, turkish bath or the jacuzzi in the pool. Ask at our reception.

Our Termas da Azenha is situated in a rural area, fields and forested slopes, but not so far away from the attractions of the beaches of Figueira da Foz and Costa de Lavos or the rich culture of Coimbra and Conimbriga.

Conimbriga is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Portugal. Coimbra is located on a hill on the river Mondego. At the top of the hill there are the universities of the city, including some of the oldest in Europe. You will find the beautiful historical city center at the foot of the hill. A combination of castle and monastery was formerly known as the headquarters of the Supreme Military Order of the Temple of Jerusalem, in its original language: Ordo Supremus Militaris Templi Hierosolymitani. The town itself is attractive because of its parks, squares, renovated warehouses and factories. Noteworthy is the matchbox museum with an extensive collection. Entertainment for children in the region There are many things that children can do in the area. For example, the open-air museum of Coimbra, Portugal dos Pequenitos mentioned in this museum you will find models of colonial architecture in Brazil, Mozambique, Angola and Macao. Since Coimbra affect the river Mondego, there are many Flusstrände to relax and swim. The Castle of Buçaco Montemor-o-Velho and Pombal are perfect day trip for the whole family. In Montemor You can even visit a small zoo. Children like the beach and water, and now, of which there are enough only a few miles down the road. The beaches in this area are very quiet, which makes her family a lot of space to play. Then, when the tide of the Atlantic, the undercurrent is very strong, some precautions must be taken, even for adults. The tide is safe for swimming. Markets Many Portuguese markets offer meat, fish, poultry, fruit, vegetables, clothing, farming equipment, plants and more, all at a fair price. In Coimbra and Figueira daily markets are held in a large hall, and only in the morning. A highlight is the Sunday morning market in Louriçal or in Praia da Tocha.
Other leisure facilitiesAround Azenha there are many opportunities in sports. Figueira has a tennis court, a swimmingparque, broad beaches and an Equestrian-centre (Quiaios). At the lakes of this area you can rent a kayak or canoe on the beach and in the lakes can be fished, or even just a stroll away from our baths in the river Pranto. One can fish and do mountain climbing (Redinha).
Location descriptionTermas da Azenha is located just outside the small village Pedrogão do Pranto at the foot of the slope and in the middle of the river Pranto. Pranto The river is a tributary of the river Mondego, the main river that flows down the valley a few miles into the Atlantic Ocean. Since we are on the border between forest and water, we have two ecosystems with a very rich mix of flora and fauna. This area alone is home to some 300 species of birds, many birds are impressive to watch and easy to regularly visit our meadows, blue kingfishers, herons, storks and flamingos. There are a wide variety of pines, fruit trees and deciduous trees. The rivers and estuaries around our bath house are full of all sorts of fish, crayfish, shrimp and frogs. We also observe foxes, rabbits, hares and bats. The area in the valley is often used for fishing and hunting. The area is ideal for day hiking, biking and geocaching. The surroundings of the beautiful Atlantic Coast, Figueira da Foz and the quiet beaches of Lavos and Leirosa make it a perfect place for nature lovers and sun seekers who come to enjoy the fresh air and time for themselves. The medical water is therefore an additional attraction. Although the bathhouse the last 10 years before we settled here was not properly used, we receive daily, however, local guests and some of them come from far away to a few liters of water to take home with them or even a healing spring water bath with take. This region is not only ideal for nature lovers, guests come to include some of Portugal's finest culture, will find himself surrounded by many exploration opportunities. Coimbra, the university town, is only 25 km. The excavations of the ancient Roman fortress of Conimbriga are within 16 miles.
