| The picturesque village of Gordes looks like a eagle’s nest built onto the flank of a steep mountain. It is for this reason that you have a magnificent view into the surrounding landscape of the Luberon mountain range. Gordes owes its charming appearance to a number of artists who discovered the place early in the 19th century and decided to restore the town. The fort dating back to the 16th century, the narrow, cobbled alleys with their high, narrow houses and the “bories” (stone huts) make Gordes a place definitely worth visiting when travelling the Provence.
