| San Nazaire is a former fishing village snuggling in on the coastline between Toulon and Bandol. In the 19th century the place was renamed and henceforth called Sanary sur Mer. In the early 20th century it became a very popular bathing resort. It was here that the first black-and-white moving images were filmed by the Lumière brothers in the town’s train station building. When the Nazis came to power in Germany, Sanary sur Mer became the capital of German authors who went into exile. Thomas Mann, Bertold Brecht Lion Feuchtwanger and many other were able to find refuge here in the 1930s. Today, a commemorative plaque in the harbour of Snary sur Mer reminds locals and visitors alike of this dark era in Europe’s history. Furnishings The Résidence La Marina of Odalys with a common pool is located in the middle of a pine-tree forest, roughly four kilometres away from Sanary sur Mer and only one kilometre off Bandol. A small footpath leads to the beachside which is 800 metres away from the residence. Sized about 27 sqm, the one-room flats have a combined living room / bedroom with a double-sized sleeping couch and two reclining seats for one person each and a kitchenette equipped with a refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave etc. and a bathroom with tub and a separate WC. The flats on ground level have a small terrace, those on the upper floors a balcony with garden furniture. Each flat has a separate parking site.
