Das kleine Städtchen (4000 Einwohner) liegt an der Ostseite Istriens, am Fuße des Ucka-Gebirges (bis 1401 m), 6 km südlich von Opatija. Der Ortskern ist geprägt von engen Gassen und alten Villen. Die neueren Wohnviertel ziehen sich die steilen Berghänge entlang. Schöne Badebuchten mit Kiesstrand im benachbarten Icici (2 km nördlich). Ein Highlight die hier beginnende Küstenpromenade 'Lungomare', ein 12 km langer abwechslungsreicher Spazierweg bis nach Volosko nördlich von Opatija. Wandermöglichkeiten im Ucka-Gebirge. Ausflüge auf die Inseln Cres, Losinj, Rab und Krk.
Der kleine Badeort Medveja , ehemals ein Fischerdorf, liegt an der Küstenstraße zwischen Lovran und Moscenicka Draga, jeweils 4 km entfernt. Im Ort Supermarkt, Restaurants, Cafés und beliebter Kiesstrand.


Gebietsbeschreibung:
Kvarner Bucht

Südöstlich von Rijeka, in der Kvarner Bucht, liegen einige bekannte Ferienorte mit sehr langer Tradition im Tourismus. Hauptanziehungspunkt ist der östliche Teil der Halbinsel Istrien, mit seinen alten Städten und vielen kleinen Fischerdörfern, in denen das historische Stadtbild fast unangetastet bewahrt werden konnte. Die Kvarner Bucht ist eines der klimatisch mildesten Gebiete Kroatiens. Vorgelagert sind zahlreiche Inseln. Die bekanntesten sind Krk, Cres und Rab. Die hohen Berge am Festland schützen die gesamte Kvarner Bucht vor kalten Winden aus dem Norden. Das Hinterland wird geprägt von einer ausgedehnten Hochebene, die von steilen Bergmassiven, sanften Hängen und wilden Schluchten durchbrochen wird. Die 30 km lange Riviera von Opatija liegt am Fuße des immergrünen Bergmassivs Ucka. Der elegante Seekurort Opatija war einst der Urlaubsort der gekrönten Häupter aus aller Welt. Noch heute spürt man das Flair der österreichisch-ungarischen Monarchie. Neben Opatija können auch Crikvenica und Novi Vinodolski auf eine lange touristische Geschichte zurückblicken. Die beiden Küstenorte liegen ca. 40 km südöstlich von Rijeka. Eines der Highlights im kinderfreundlichen Crikvenica ist der Sandstrand Crni mol, in Novi Vinodolski laden Uferpromenade und Fußgängerzone zum Flanieren ein. Noch etwas weiter südlich liegt Senj, mit der über die Stadt wachenden Festung Nehaj und zahlreichen Festen, die Besucher aus aller Welt anlocken.
