Wanderer, Radfahrer, Reiter und Naturliebhaber finden ein dichtes Netz markierter Wege.
Der von tiefgrünen Höhenrücken gesäumte See Siljan mit den malerischen Städtchen Mora, Rättvik und Leksand im Zentrum der Provinz gilt als Kernland schwedischen Brauchtums, das besonders in den Sommermonaten zu munterem Leben erwacht. Zahlreiche Festspiele und Märkte, lebendige Sennereien und Handwerksbetriebe sowie eine Vielzahl von Ausflugszielen machen die Gegend zu einer beliebten und abwechslungsreichen Urlaubsregion.
In den tiefen Wäldern des Südens geben gut erhaltene Gruben, Bergarbeiterdörfer und Gutshöfe Einblick in die vom Bergbau geprägte Geschichte Dalarnas. Im Osten erstreckt sich eine hügelige Waldlandschaft, raue Felsmassive bestimmen zur norwegischen Grenze hin das Bild bis hin zu Schwedens südlichsten Hochgebirgen, deren entlegene Wildnis nicht nur für Wintersportler ein Erlebnis ist.
