Goult, a village filled with shops situated midway between Menerbes and Roussillon in the heart of the Luberon Valley. It also has a baker and a butcher made famous in Peter Mayle's A Year in Provence. In the center of the village, just three minutes' walk from this villa, you will find the wonderful restaurant L'Auberge de Bartavelle. This area is a fantastic location for exploring all of the villages and towns of Avignon, including Gordes, Menerbes, Bonnieux, Roussillon, Fontaine-de-Vaucluse, and Avignon itself. Nearby Roussillon is considered one of the must-sees of the Luberon. The village has been built using stones from the red cliffs nearby one of the biggest deposits of ochre in the world. As a result, houses in the town cover the color spectrum from yellows to reds and browns and even purple tints. You can wander around narrow streets, visit local art galleries and studios, or eat at one of the fine restaurants.
