Casa Paola is situated in Pratolungo-Pettenasco. This is at the Lake Orta, west of Lake Maggiore. Pratolungo is a restful little village with 100 residents, located on the hillside, approx. 150m higher than Pettenasco and the Lake Orta.
Casa Paola is situated in the old village center of Pratolungo, a bit above the main road. It is a typical ancient three-storied big house of the area with 2 parts. One part has been nicely and gently renovated. At present, the owners are renovating the other part. The owners live with their 2 school kids in the lower floors of the renovated part.
The holiday apartment was recently built into the attic. A lot of care has been taken to show wonderful details of the old structure, yet to transform it in a modern beautiful and charming living space.
The apartment consists of one large main living/dining room shaped like an L with kitchenette and balcony towards south; one double bedroom; and a bathroom with a small tub/shower. There is a pullout sofa (= double bed) and a sat-TV in the living room. A flight of stairs leads from the living room up to a small and low gallery, where 1-2 mattresses can be placed. Kids love this corner for sleeping and playing.
The apartment has been equipped and furnished very carefully and in good taste. It can be centrally heated. Guests can access to the Internet via W-LAN, using their own notebook. The owners' bicycles (2 for adults and 3 for children) and washing machine as well as the garden including a barbecue can be used. Incidentally, the hens and cats of the house enjoy the garden, too.
Pratolungo is suitable for nature lovers and an ideal starting point for numerous hikes. Chestnut forests begin by the house, the waterfalls of the river Pescone and the lake are easily accessible on foot. In the apartment, there are detailled informations, descriptions of hikes and hiking maps available.
If you travel by train, you take the local train Domodossola-Novara and get off at Pettenasco. From Pettenasco you reach Pratolungo within a 30min. walk on the old connecting road.
