Lari and surrounding area
Lari is situated 20 minutes by car from the sea and 18 km between Pisa and Livorno, not too far from the nice cultural centre of Florence, Volterra and San Gimignano. Around the village are rolling hills and large fields, olive groves and vineyards.
In the village (500m) you don't only find different general stores, fruit and vegetable shops, bakeries, butchers, bars and restaurant but also banks, post offices, pharmacies, newsagents, one boutique and a watchmaker shop. Just a few kilometres away you can find the big shopping centres in Perignano, Ponsacco and in Pontedra.
From Vicar castle in Lari, which has also holds an interesting museum called "Museo Civico Baldinucci" open daily, you can enjoy a fantastic view of the hills until the Alpi Apuane, from the Appennino Pistoiese to the lowlands of Pisa, from Volterra to the sea of Livorno. The surrounding area offers several possibilities. You can actually discover the Tuscan countryside with its villages going from one castle to the other and from one hill to another.

Great for hiking. Ideal excursions to the "Colline Pisane". The nearby thermal health resort of Casciana Terme offers wellness, medical care as well as entertainment at a high level. Also ideal for cycling, mountain biking, horse riding and fishing. You can cycle along the Arno river. or take part in archery. There is also a motor cross facility.
