| Castellana Grotte This splendid masseria, built at the beginning of seventeenth century, is owned by an ancient and noble family of Castellana Grotte, it is located at about 3 minutes drive to the town and at 15 minutes drive to the sea. The masseria is surrounded by one of the most attractive parts of the Apulian countryside: the Murge with its own pastures and infinite lands of olive trees. The construction's architecture has all the elements of the time: simplicity, essentiality and an ancient glamour. You get to it going trough an avenue of cypresses bent by the time and by the frequent north-east winds coming from the Balkans. This building is surrounded by the stables and the depots for the agricultural tools, machineries, wood logs for the fireplace. Two old trulli are also used as warehouse for the bicycles (a mountain bike and two classic bikes available for the hosts). At the centre of the yard there is a splendid little church where until a few years ago every Sunday it was said mass. On the facade, a tombstone reminds us the construction year of the masseria: 1735. The church is dedicated to the Archangel St. Micheal, represented on its struggle against the devil in a faded affresco inside. Its geographic position is ideal for those who are looking for a vacation In Apulia enjoying the culture of an ancient land (Castellana is one of the towns that belong to the Area of Trulli and Caves) and the sea, the splendid sea of Polignano and Monopoli. It is ideal also for families with children, so that these ones can find a huge space for their playing far away from the traffic and the stress of the city. We offer in this masseria rural hospitality, in the apartment on the first floor of about 100 square meters, to which you can get from a staircase than ends on a terrace where you can enjoy a splendid sunset. At the inside: one living room with a beautiful and spacious view to the south on the Castellana's hills two bedrooms: one double bedroom and one single bedroom one kitchen with a characteristic corner fire place (where you can have barbecue) a spacious bathroom with shower and toilets From the living room you can go through an internal staircase to a third romantic bedroom with a fireplace. Rural hospitality means also the possibility of buying from the farmers some home made products like, ricotta, butter, cheese, eggs, rabbit meat, olive oil, vegetables. The farmers ' lady is also available for preparing on order for our hosts the traditional Apulian dishes like "impanata", "orecchiette e cime di rape" with the typical local wine. |

| Price details: | During summer and spring, the owner of Masseria Gianpietro will offer to his hosts one day trip ( in a day of calm sea) on board of the Samigi (14 mt. yacht with fly bridge and all comforts) along Polignano and Monopoli coast with the possibility of swimming in the open sea and testing the sea urchins. Extras Gas, electricity, water, final cleaning 50 Euro Sheet and towels 10 euro set It is not possible to accommodate more persons than the ones stated in the signed agreement. The house set up has to be respected by the guests who have the duty to give back the house exactly as they have received it. In case of any dispute, our agreement is subject to the Italian law and the Law Court of Bari is competent venue. |
